Go Give One Campaign For The Health Of Your World
COVID-19 is a problem that cannot be solved by any one country or government alone because none of us will be free from the virus until we are all free. The answer is vaccines for everyone, everywhere, and that is the main motto of the WHO Foundation’s Go Give One campaign.
Sadly, more than 95% of people in low-income countries are yet to receive even their first dose, compared with over 60% in high-income countries. We are protected, but they are not.
Moreover, an unequal distribution of vaccines will deepen inequality and exaggerate the gap between rich and poor and will reverse decades of hard-won progress on human development. Estimates suggest that the economic impacts of COVID-19 may last until 2024 in low-income countries, while high-income countries could reach pre-COVID-19 per capita GDP growth rates by the end of this year.
How Can You Help?
Created by the WHO Foundation, Go Give One, is asking individuals to donate £4 for a single vaccine for those in countries who cannot afford them. The campaign’s aim is to get 50 million people to take part with a funding goal of circa $500 million. Funds raised, through an international financial mechanism called COVAX AMC, will finance COVID-19 vaccines for lower-income countries, helping protect vulnerable communities who need vaccines the most, through an international financial mechanism called COVAX AMC. Governments are giving money to COVAX AMC, but it is simply not enough to end the pandemic. This is why the WHO Foundation created the Go Give One campaign and why every individual donation will make a difference.
The Go Give One campaign is based on the simple belief that individuals, wherever they are, can play a powerful role in the fight against COVID-19 by investing in the health of their world.
Aspen Woolf is proud to join the campaign and is pledging a minimum of 10% of the company’s service fees to the WHO/COVAX AMC Foundation for the rest of the year. This will help vaccinate thousands of those in low-income countries who need vaccines the most.
You can also donate directly. A £20 donation will secure the gift of a vaccine for 5 people and, with added Gift Aid, it can secure one more!
