See the H-shaped block with 110 apartments planned for North Liverpool
The regeneration of North Liverpool showed no signs of slowdown this week as another major development was submitted for planning permission.
Snow Architects has designed a seven-storey, H-shaped building to sit next to the Tobacco Wharf near Sandhills station.
The building, from developers Trophy Homes, could play host to 110 new apartments.
According to the submission to Liverpool City Council, the development should be a “distinctive, safe and pleasant, welcoming, adaptable, efficient residential complex”.
The firm argued that the current site suffers from “considerable deprivation” and looks “overgrown” and “unsightly”.
It’s only the latest planned development that could help the area just north of the city centre hit its stride.
London-based developers Aspen Woolf are behind the Eldon Grove scheme in Vauxhall, a refurbishment comprising 45 apartments.
The company’s founder Oliver Ramsden firmly believes that Vauxhall will look very different in five to ten years’ time.
He said: “Our top tip for investors looking to Liverpool in 2017/8 is to head north of the city centre, around the Vauxhall area.
“The area is benefiting from a wealth of investment with road expansions, new train stations, a brand new football ground and new cruise terminal to boot. We’ve witnessed a huge spike in planning applications granted in the area, which is always a good indication.”
Among the developments announced in North Liverpool recently was the new Everton FC stadium on Bramley Moore Dock.
On Great Homer Street, a Sainsbury’s is set to open later this month as part of the Project Jennifer regeneration.
